Fried Chicken

 

Ingredients:

  • 4-6 pieces of chicken (legs, thighs, or breasts)
  • 2 cups buttermilk
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
  • Vegetable oil (for frying)

Preparation:

  1. Soak the chicken pieces in buttermilk for at least 1 hour (preferably overnight).
  2. In a shallow bowl, combine flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, and cayenne.
  3. Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F.
  4. Dredge the soaked chicken pieces in the flour mixture, pressing down to coat thoroughly.
  5. Fry the chicken in batches for 12-15 minutes until golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature should reach 165°F).
  6. Drain on paper towels and serve hot.
